· | Scheduled task does not start : Backup2005 Pro creates tasks scheduled in the Windows Scheduler. The tasks are started by Windows itself. If the task does not start go to the Scheduled jobs and click the Log button on the toolbar. The Windows Scheduler log file is displayed, check the exit code for the task then go to the Windows help file to get a more comprehensible information about this code. Keep in mind that the Windows scheduler does not recalculate the next process time if the computer was off at the task time. In this case run the task from the Run function of the Scheduled jobs list. If you are running Windows XP with SP1 it is highly recommended to upgrade to SP2. Microsoft has fixed a severe problem in the Windows scheduler.

· | I got an exception error while backing up my data (message Access violation at address...) : if you are writing data to a CD or a DVD you are not working with the proper medium. You will get this message if you have checked to use our internal burner driver and you are using a RW medium formatted to be used through a packet writer software. You must use a non formatted medium. You get also this message if you choose to write data through a packet writer software and you are using a non formatted medium. If you are writing data on an external USB hard disk : a lack of power generally is the reason of such problem. Users have reported that using a self powered USB hub solves this kind of problem. Other possible reason is the use of an USB 1.1 cable with an USB 2.0 device.

· | I got a 506,507,508 error code : If your backup job fails with an error code 506, 507 or 508 that means the zip engine was unable to write archive file don the destination folder.
The reasons are multiple and depend of the destination type.
If the destination is another hard disk :
* verify the disk space available on the destination disk
(don't forget that the system keeps back some space for virtual memory and recycle bin)
* check the disk for bad sectors : run a scan disk
If the destination is a network disk :
* as for a local disk check the disk space
* verify that you don't pass by your disk quota (if any)
* verify the user name and password provided (maybe they have been changed)
* check if the network is still available and the workstation connected.
If the destination is a removable media :
* verify that the medium is non protected
* if it is a scheduled job verify that a medium was inserted in the device.
* if it is a CD-R verify that it was not finalized (more data are not allowed)
* verify the space available on the media
* verify that the split size defined in the backup set definition matches the space available on the media.
If your backup job is defined in Unique archive file mode verify that you have enough disk space for the temporary folder
If your backup destination is a CD or a DVD using our internal driver or the original Windows XP burner verify that there is enough
space for the burning stage area.
